The Good News of the Christmas Season is Jesus 

 It is difficult to believe that we have just turned the page on our calendar to December.  As we end another blessed year of ministry, we want to thank you for your prayers and continued support.  What God has called us to do is both a privilege and a joy.  The Lord continues to use you in mighty ways to keep us going and serving.  Thank you so much.

In Luke 2:10, God’s word states, “But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for behold I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people.’”  As we approach the season of the year in which we celebrate the birth of our Lord, I want to remind you of the words of the angel, “Do not be afraid.”  We certainly live in a time that causes many to fear.  Fear of the failing economy, job insecurity and the uncertain future are some of the immediate fears we all are facing.   

Joshua 1:9 reads as follows: “Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous!  Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”  We can all praise God that the one who is in us is greater than he who is in the world.   The words of Luke 2 continue, “I bring you good news of great joy.”  The good news is of the birth of Jesus who is Savior of the world. 

The good news is of Jesus who paid the penalty for our sin.  The good news is that God so loved that He gave so that we could be made complete.  Wow!!! Is that ever good news!  The good news of Jesus brings us joy.  It is a real joy that overflows in our souls because of what He has done for us.  As we celebrate this Christmas may we remember that it is Jesus who makes our joy complete.  As I close, let me remind you that the good news and great joy are not just for us who believe, but for all who will choose to believe; for those who will come, for all who will call upon His name.  What are we doing to share that good news with others?
