I Am Most Thankful for Reminders Do you ever find yourself doing what you don’t want to do and not doing what you want? Some days I ask myself, “Why do you do that?” and other times I reflect, “Why did I not do that?” Paul struggled in a similar way and penned these words in Romans 7:14 and following: “For what I am doing, I do not understand, for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.” Wow, does that ever sound familiar to me! Paul continues in verse 19 saying, “For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want.” I believe at times we all find ourselves in the same battle as Paul. Therefore, I thank the Lord for reminding me of the importance of following “the basics” of our Christian faith in the midst of the battle. This week, He has gently reminded me that He is faithfully in control and that He understands my weaknesses. He has encouraged me as He brought several very familiar scriptures to my mind that help remind me to focus on what is most important. I would like to share them with you. First, in II Timothy 3:16 we are reminded of the power of His awesome Word. In Romans 12:2, we are told of the necessity of allowing him to constantly renovate and renew our minds. In James 4:8, He reminds us that His heart for us is to draw near to Him so He will draw near to us. What an amazing truth! The last reminder was simply how powerful prayer is and what a privilege we have to talk to Him. He gently tells us to pray, pray and continue to pray and also to be thankful as stated in II Thessalonians 5:17-18. At this season of giving thanks, we truly do have much for which to be grateful. His reminders of how to live victoriously are just a few of them. We are also thankful for health, family and for you. Thank you for your prayers and support for Complete in Christ. May God bless you and your family during this Thanksgiving season. Please pray for us as we minister in November |
