God is the Ultimate Loving Parent
Have you ever reached a place in your life where you wonder what you used to do with all your time? Since our precious little grandchildren gifts from God have come into our lives, we are most blessed that their parents allow us to be actively involved. They do require quite a bit of time and energy, however. We had heard others say that grandchildren are very grand and after having these two, I believe that may possibly be an understatement. The anticipation of seeing them every few days is like that of Christmas. I know many of you are not able to see your children and grandchildren daily and my heart feels compassion for you. Still when you do get to spend time with them, it is totally wonderful. As I was reflecting upon the goodness of God and the blessings, I was reminded of a scripture in Matthew 7:11 that states, “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” According to this verse the love that we have for our children and grandchildren is small indeed compared to the love that the Father has for us. We try to choose the best for our little ones, but sometimes we fail. However, He never fails us and always chooses the best, even when we aren’t aware of what the best may look like. At times His perfect plan may include physical pain, financial difficulty, and relationship issues. 2 Corinthians 4:17 promises that “for our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” Though, we are called to endure suffering at times, Paul calls our troubles light and momentary in comparison to the eternal glory that awaits. All the suffering on this lifetime will seem small in heaven. Our little ones like to look up—some say at the light or ceiling fan. I believe they are looking into heaven, from which they were sent. Let’s learn a lesson from them. Looking up to God in the midst of our problems and longing for the place where we too will one day return if we have accepted Jesus. I pray that for all of us, He’ll say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Until then, let us keep loving and trusting in a way that is pleasing to Him. Thank you for your continued support and prayers. Please pray for us during a busy October (Praise the Lord!!) |
