What a Day – God turns discouragement into reminder

What a day!!   I will have to be honest.  My day started a little discouraging.  I woke up on this particular morning in a hotel in Elko, Nevada, which is about 2,300 miles from home.  As I looked outside, I saw fresh snow and realized that a bitterly cold north wind was blowing fiercely.  God began to speak to my heart as I read His Word.  In 1 Peter 5:6-7 the Message version of the Bible says, “So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs.  God’s strong hand is on you; He’ll promote you at the right time.”

As I drove from Elko in the snow and wind to a small church in Wells, Nevada, I began to see God’s hand at work.  I was truly blessed by a small group of people as they worshiped through song and then listened intently as I shared with them from the Word.  What a special blessing I received at Wells Baptist Church! After lunch and a time of fellowship with these dear people, I started my seven hour drive to Las Vegas where I was to catch a 1 a.m. flight home.

On the way I stopped in Ely and visited with Murray and Karen Hewko.  Again, I witnessed the hand of God as we talked about ministry opportunities for the future and as they prayed over me.  I had one more stop to make, and this was in Sunnyside, Nevada at the Sunnyside Ranch.  I was once again blessed as I listened to testimonies of God’s faithfulness to the precious folks there and was privileged to pray with them for God’s wisdom in the decisions that they must soon make.

What began as a day of utter discouragement was turned into a day of blessing for me.  God allowed me to see Him at work in the lives of others over and over again that day and my discouragement turned into encouragement over the awesomeness of our faithful God.  God is always at work and can been seen in our daily lives if we are only willing to look for Him.  As I sat in the airport reflecting upon the goodness of God as I waited to board the plane home, I was filled with excitement over all I had seen and heard.  I was eager to see Tina and listen as she shared with me where she had seen the hand of God while I had been away.

Are we so busy with the demands of our daily lives and external annoyances such as the weather, that we miss seeing the awesomeness of our faithful, loving God?  I pray the valuable lesson God taught me that day will be one that I will remember every day.  Thank you so much for praying and supporting Complete in Christ Ministries.  You are such an important part of what God is doing in our lives and in the lives of others to whom He sends us to minister each day.
