Jesus Gives Believers the Promise of Heaven Lately the Lord has really been speaking to my heart about the shortness of time before His return to earth. I surely am glad to know that I will be spending eternity with Jesus in heaven. As believers, however, we need to be actively sharing with others about the promise of heaven. Heaven is a promised place. In John 14, Jesus says, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself.” That is a promise. God is always faithful to fulfill His promises. Heaven is also a prepared place. Jesus tells us that He is preparing a place for us. Think about the required amount of preparation for a wedding. Christ is preparing for His bride (the church) in a glorious way. Heaven is also a physical place. It is a real place with many dwellings. As the Bible tells us, it is a place with streets of gold and walls of jasper. Heaven is a promised, prepared place that really does exist. Finally heaven is a people place. There will be many people in heaven – people we have known and those we have not. All people in heaven will have one thing in common and that is an earthly relationship with Jesus. Every person in heaven will have believed in Jesus during their earthly lifetimes. In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me.” As we celebrate the fact that we are on our way to heaven, let’s be sure to be faithful to share Jesus with those who are not. Thank you for praying and giving so we can travel and share the Lord Jesus with others. Please begin praying now for opportunities for this summer. Thank you so much and God bless you and your family! |
