Could You Use a Little Wisdom in our Uncertain Times?

The last Sunday in January, I had the opportunity to preach at First Baptist Church in Ely, Nevada.  I shared a message entitled, “The Journey Toward Wisdom” taken from Proverbs 3:13-18 and James 1:5-7.  I believe all of us would agree that we are living in a day of uncertainty.  The economy is unstable, jobs are being lost, and people are worried about the future.  For believers, however, this uncertainty should also bring excitement.  We personally know the one who can turn the hearts of our leaders, change the outlook of the economy, and provide for our every need.  He holds our future securely.

As we strive to walk with the Lord, we desperately need God-given wisdom to guide us. I believe God’s Word is very clear about our journey toward wisdom.  In James 5, we are told that because of our relationship with Jesus, we have the privilege to ask for wisdom.  The source of all wisdom, who is God Himself, will give it generously to us.  Our request should be made without doubting and with much anticipation as we excitedly wait on our awesome God to deliver wisdom.

In a time of uncertainty, it is comforting and encouraging to know that God will give us the wisdom we need to make the best decisions.  What a privilege because of our personal relationship with Jesus to be able to request wisdom, to understand the requirement that we are to ask without doubting, and to wait with great anticipation for the results!  We need not worry in unsettling times; only pray, trust and rest in God’s promises to us.

Thank you once again for your prayers and support.  You and the Lord are what keep us going.  Please continue to pray for us.
