The Condition of Our Hearts
Lately the Lord has been teaching us about the condition of our hearts and the importance of pure hearts before Him. As we studied Psalm 51, we began to see the neediness of David’s heart. Focusing on this passage made us realize how needy we all are, even as His children. There are three ways that we show our neediness for God that are recognized and addressed in this scripture. First, we have a need to be honest before God about what we are thinking and feeling. Are we willing to be totally honest before Almighty God? David took responsibility by confessing his sin; we must do the same. Secondly, we have a need to be dependent upon Him daily. In Verse 10 of Psalms 51, David said, “Create in me a clean heart.” “God, you are going to have to do something only you can do” was the essence of David’s prayer. In so doing, David acknowledged his dependency upon God. We are truly dependent upon Him; may we, too, willingly acknowledge it. Thirdly, we have a deep need to be used by Him. In verse 13 David states, “Then I will teach transgressors your ways and sinners will be converted.” Deep within us is a longing to be used by God in the lives of others. Thank you for partially fulfilling this need in your own hearts by praying for and supporting us so that we can be used by Him as well. May God richly bless; we love and appreciate you. Please pray for us as our schedule is quite busy this fall. Thank you for praying that God would continue to give us opportunities to serve Him and others
