Count Your Many Blessings – Name them One by One When I was a teenager I played the piano some at my home church, Jerusalem Baptist Church, and later at Pleasant Ridge, our first church where Wayne pastored. Since I was concentrating so hard on getting the notes played correctly, I often missed the valuable words that were being sung. Today, the Lord reminded me of the song, Count Your Blessings. The first verse says, “When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed; When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost; Count your many blessings, name them one by one, and It will surprise you what the Lord hath done.”
The Psalmist could think of hundreds of blessing that he had received from the Lord and just as many reasons to praise Him. I chose only a few that I read today in chapters 105-107. “God is good; His love continues forever. He saves from trouble. He heals by His command. His love reaches to the skies. We can win with God’s help. He saves to show His great power.” Instead of complaining about difficulties, I want praising Him and counting my blessings to be what comes naturally to me. I am sure that you desire the same for your life and it is possible in Christ. It is sometimes surprising to realize just how much he loves us and what He did for us through Jesus. If we name our daily blessings one by one, we can have a long list in just a short period of time. When I count our blessings, of course, I always think of you. You are our prayer warriors that we depend upon so heavily. As I write this July update, Wayne is still in Mexico on a mission trip. He was able to go and share the good news of Jesus with children as well as adults because of your faithful prayer and giving. You are truly a blessing to us and others.
